Volunteer Description
Family Connections Buddy
Assist Knox DD staff with event set up, host-site activities, and engaging with kids so parents have time to connect.
Family Connection events vary from open play to hiking to teen nights.
Family Connection Events typically occur monthly on a weekday evening.
Family Hiking Series
Be a hiking buddy for a child or adult.

Volunteer Description
Head Coach
Share the love for a sport with athletes in Knox County! From Basketball to Bowling to Track & Field, coaches play an essential role in the success of each sports program.
The skills and qualities that coaches teach help athletes gain the confidence to perform during competition and are reflected in their daily lives.
Lead practices and travel with your athletes to regional and state games.
Head Coaches must be at least 18 years of age.
All coaches are required to pass a background check.
Assistant Coach
Assist athletes in a designated sport weekly throughout the sport season.
Assist head coach with running practices, games, and competitions.
Assistant Coaches must be at least 14 years of age.
All coaches are required to pass a background check.
Practice and Event Volunteers
For individuals or groups that would like to help Special Olympics with practices or local competition events.
Assist with event set up, tear down, and running and scoring sporting events.
How to Volunteer
