Supported Decision-Making
For many self-advocates and families understanding the options surrounding potential guardianship, medical power of attorney and lesser restrictive options like Supported-Decision Making can sometimes prove challenging. Supported Decision-Making happens when we ask trusted people in our lives to help us make important decisions. Most of us already use Supported Decision-Making most every day, even if we don’t call it supported decision-making. We may ask others for their advice, expertise, and opinions, or for help to understand a complicated situation. The resources below are intended to help you learn about and navigate the world of Supported Decision-Making. All of these resources were created by The Ohio Network for Innovation (ONI) and many other organizations.
