Fishing Derby

All Participants must also complete the waiver for the Fish and Game Association.
What: Fishing Derby Sponsored by the Knox County Fish and Game Association in partnership with the Knox County Board of DD
When: Saturday, May 18th 10:00-1:00
Where: Ariel Foundation Park (Updated 5/17: pond near Schnormeier Event Center)
Who: Any individual with Developmental Disabilities (any age) as well as siblings of children with a developmental disability that are participating.
Details: This is a rain or shine event (as long as there is no possibility of lightning). Fish will be stocked ahead of time in the reflection pond by the Knox County Fish and Game Association. The Fish and Game Association will be generously supplying fishing poles, tackle and bait to use at the event. If you have your own fishing equipment/supplies you are welcome to bring that as well. There will be bottles of water and some small snacks available (you are also welcome to bring your own to accommodate any diet restrictions). There will be door prizes and each participant will receive a prize bag at the end of the event. Individuals participating will need to have a completed liability waiver for the Fish and Game Association (click here to download). You can print this out ahead of time if you need a guardian’s signature who won’t be on site the day of the event.
Accessibility: The area all around the reflection pond is flat and grass covered. There are some paved sidewalks adjacent to the pond, but anyone utilizing a wheelchair would need to go through a small grassy area to access to the edge of the reflection pond.

Bathrooms: There will be an accessible porta-potty nearby.
